Markets
The U.S. markets are down for the year and have struggled to gain any traction in 2015. As seen on the Economy page, the U.S. economy is good, the markets are being held down from the world economies. There is little hope for improvements through 2015, but U.S. companies are earning profits and paying dividends. We will not see the stock price appreciation at this time, but we are seeing stock price valuations climb. This is a healthy move and supports a climb in stock prices when the rest of the world's economies get moving.
The DOW Jones Industrial Average is my favorite to track, as a barometer of the leading stocks in the many sectors. The S&P may be more accurate of many companies, I like the perception of the leader stocks reflecting how the biggest companies are managing the investment markets. I think this demonstrates the trends of the markets and gives me insight to the power players. Acquisitions and mergers at the top are much more influential.
Current stock market numbers. The trend of the over-all markets do affect how investors buy and sell, but at the end of the day you should focus on the individual company, how it is affected by the market conditions and what calendar events are coming due.
